Helping you succeed
MY STORY
Focused on your success
Hello and welcome. I designed this website to provide you with a bit about who I am and how I can help you. I'm glad you stopped by.
Born in Oregon, I've lived in many different places including; Washington, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado. I am blessed to currently reside in beautiful Parker, Co and live with my wife of 23 years, my college freshman son, teenage daughter and a multitude of pets.
I currently am a Director at Empower Retirement, where I have worked for over 6 years. My career spans companies large and small. From an international payment processing company to a local software maker. I've been fortunate to have done many things along the way including, system administration, firewall management, security architecture, penetration testing, forensics and leadership.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, spending time with my family, playing the occasional video game, and most of all skiing. I try and take several ski trips each year to places like Steamboat, Aspen, Utah, Taos, Big Sky or Jackson Hole.
Experience, Knowledge, Attitude - Three keys to Success
These elements are critical for success. Why? Let me explain.
Experience - It's what makes us who we are. Experience is gained through our successes and failures. I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to gain a significant amount of experience through the roles and jobs I've had over the years. I've been in the trenches, lead teams and made the hard decisions. Experience has taught me not only the how but the why.
Knowledge - Never stop learning. Information Security is a rapidly moving industry and requires the ability to learn new information at breakneck pace. Not only that but you must keep your current skills up to date. I pride myself on what I've learned and have tested that knowledge. I proudly hold seven Certifications.
Attitude - The correct attitude can make all the difference. Positivity, desire, willingness, etc., are critical ingredients for the right attitude. The wrong attitude can sink your ability to achieve your goal. I have learned many things over my career, including the simple fact, attitudes are infectious. If your project a positive and confident vibe, it most often than not inspires those working with/for you. However, that is not always the case and you will find situations where no matter how positive you are someone is going to have a negative attitude. Avoid letting their negativity impact you. Maintain your good attitude and success is achievable.
